Zakouma has gone just over a year without a single poaching incident

January 30th 2017:

Experts once predicted that Zakouma’s remaining elephants would be gone within two or three years if the situation stayed unchanged. But it did change—drastically. The elephants in Chad’s Zakouma National Park were supposed to have been wiped out by now.

Instead their numbers are growing.
